Uruguay legalises marijuana trade

Update: Uruguay has become the first country in the world to make it legal to grow, sell and consume marijuana.

After nearly 12 hours of debate, senators gave the government-sponsored bill their historic final approval.

The law allowing registered Uruguayans over 18 to buy up to 40g (1,4oz) of the drug a month is not expected to come into force before April.

Photos: Brazil Hosts Mass Gay Wedding For 130 Couples

A total of 130 couples have said "I do" in a mass wedding at Rio de Janeiro's Superior Court of Justice, marking the city's first gay civil marriages. In mid-May, Brazilian courts determined that public offices that oversee marriages cannot reject gay couples. The ceremony held on the 8^th of Dec. 2013 and most of them were close to tears as their dreams of getting married came true. See more photos after the cut.
